Associate Professor at Centre for Regional Development and Public Policies Studies, University of Los Lagos, Chile.

PhD in Architecture and Urban Studies (2016), Master in Human Settlements and the Environment (2009) and Sociologist (2006).

My research comprises territorial governance systems in remotes areas and spatial restructuration processes. Specifically, it analyses power relations and the emergence of new ways of inhabiting territories, to identify structures that affect development processes.

I’m General Editor at Revista LIDER, focused on promoting theoretical and methodological discussions on regional development, emphasizing institutions, political processes and multi-scalar relations that connect society, culture and economy.

I’m Academic Secretary at the PhD Program of Social Sciences on Territorial Studies, at the University of Los Lagos, accredited for five years (2018-2023).

I manage three websites related to my academic interests. Islas gathers projects and publications on political processes in islands and remote areas. Investigando Chiloé brings closer academic production to local decision makers and stakeholders. Powerscapes compiles work of a transdisciplinary team of researchers on political ecology and power relations related with extractive activities.

Research interests: territorial governance, insularity, political geography.
